Most pitches fail in the first thirty seconds. Not because the product is weak, but because the story starts in the wrong place: with the seller, the company and the feature list, instead of with the problem the buyer already feels.
A pitch that works answers three questions in order. Why change at all? Why you? And the one almost everybody skips: why now? Without that last one prospects agree with you, say it sounds interesting, and then do nothing for eighteen months.
